Truck dragging chain sparks fire east of Millville

Firefighters said the cause of the fire is due to a chain that was being dragged behind a semi-truck.

UPDATE: 2:56 p.m. - CAL FIRE said the Cow Fire at Whitmore Road and Cow Creek Ranch Road in Millville is 100% contained.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - A semi-truck dragging a chain sparked a fire near old Highway 44 east of Millville around 8:45 a.m.

The fire was held at 5 acres and firefighters had the fire under control around 9:30 a.m. The acreage was then updated at 15.8 acres.

JT Zulliger from CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit said chain parts were found on the fire. They want people to remember to keep their chains well secured in the vehicle.
