Fire danger is not expected to be as bad today, but temperatures will be even hotter than what we've had so far this week. The good news is winds will not be as strong today. North winds to around 10mph are expected through this afternoon, which is a big drop from the 30mph gusts we had on Tuesday. Very hot temperatures, and very low humidity will continue to result in elevated fire danger this afternoon. Skies are clear for the start of your Wednesday, and are expected to stay sunny to mostly sunny today. Temperatures have dipped into the mid to high 50's in the valley overnight, and into the 30's to 40's in the mountains this morning. Winds are out of the Northeast to around 10mph this morning, but are slightly stronger than that in the foothills. North or Northwest winds to 10mph are expected through this afternoon. Humidity has not recovered well again overnight, and is expected to bottom out between 5 to 15 percent again today. High temperatures will range from the mid 90's to around 100 degrees in the valley today, and mountain areas are projected to climb into the mid 80's to mid 90's this afternoon. The well above average temperatures, and low humidity will continue to make fire danger a big concern today.
The hot and dry weather will persist on Thursday, but a few more clouds are expected to track across Northern California. Temperatures will end up as hot if not a degree hotter than Wednesday on Thursday afternoon. There is a big change of pace ahead in your forecast from Friday through your weekend. A cooler system will arrive across Northern California on Friday and that will drop high temperatures back into the low to mid 90's. Much cooler weather and a chance for showers will be on the way for your weekend. Valley areas are expected to top out in the mid to high 70's on both Saturday and Sunday. The potential for showers looks very good in the Coastal Range and Northern Mountains on Saturday. There is even a slight chance for some showers to track into the valley on Saturday, but that does not look as promising at this time. Mostly dry, but staying cool on Sunday. There will be a slight chance for showers around the Northern Mountains to end your weekend. The cool temperatures will continue into next week, and there will be a chance for more widespread showers on Monday. Models are currently split on whether showers will linger in our area of head to the South on Monday. Currently, it looks more likely that not that we will have some wet weather ahead for the start of next week.
