Trinity County Flat Fire 85% contained

UPDATE: 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 8 - The Flat Fire has been remapped to 62 acres and is now 85% contained.

TRINITY COUNTY, Calif. - Firefighters said the Flat fire near Burnt Ranch in Trinity County is now 85% contained.

Shasta-Trinity National Forest officials said the fire is holding at 62 acres and it is now about 85% contained, as of July 8.

The U.S. Forest Service says the fire was first reported at 3 p.m. on June 30 near the Cedar Flat Picnic Area, east of Burnt Ranch.

The cause of the fire at this time is still unknown.
