CHICO, Calif. – A popular restaurant in Chico has been closed for weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Michael Thomas is the co-owner of Tres Hombres, Action News Now reporter Mackenzie Drigo asked him how many of his employees were laid off.
"Well we had somewhere between 85 and 87, so everybody," Thomas said.
He added he would like to bring all his employees back but for now, only seven are back at work.
Tim Boehme is a bartender at Tres Hombres, he is one of those seven.
"Its been nice to be out of the house and to see some familiar faces and try to provide services that people clearly are missing after the response that we got yesterday [Tuesday]," Boehme said.
Thomas watched other restaurants stay open with curbside and delivery only for the past few weeks but said he didn't want to rush into anything.
Action News Now asked him if he regretted waiting so long to open up curbside pick up.
"No, not really it was personal for me, I just wanted to make sure everybody was safe," Thomas said.
While Tres Hombres is open, it's not running a full menu.
"It's a limited menu, we're serving chips, salsa, guac, spicy bean dip, and taquitos all made fresh every day," Thomas said. "Then we're doing fajita taco platter for individuals or two, or for a family, then we're doing enchilada platters for 10."
But Tres Hombres is known for more than just-food.
"Drinks are still as popular as ever," Boehme said.
Thomas said they're also offering up their award-winning margarita's for pick up as well. In fact, they're so popular that the restaurant completely sold out of margaritas when they re-opened on Tuesday.
Whether it's in the kitchen or behind the bar, Thomas tells Action News Now that everyone is following CDC guidelines.
