REDDING, Calif. - Redding Police arrested a man who they say burglarized Synergy cannabis dispensary overnight.

Police were sent to the dispensary on the 300 Block of Hemsted Dr. at 9:23 p.m. Monday in response to an alarm. Officers found the front glass door of the business shattered but nobody was found inside.

The manager gave officers video footage and saw, later identified as 39-year-old Ryan Sullivan, breaking into Synergy with a hatchet and stealing cannabis products on display, according to police.

Tuesday morning, Redding Police responded to the 2800 Block of Duane Ave. in response to a male transient sitting in a chair on the front of a porch. This was less than a mile from Synergy. Officers identified the man as Sullivan. They determined his clothing matched the suspect on the surveillance video. Sullivan also had cannabis products on him stolen from Synergy, police said.

Sullivan is a local transient who has had prior contact with law enforcement. He was taken to the Redding Police Detective Division for an interview before being booked at the Shasta County Jail for commercial burglary and possession of stolen property.

Synergy employees were given back the stolen property but they let offices know that wasn't all the missing items.
