CHICO, Calif. - A small electrical fire at the Torres Shelter Tuesday night has put the kitchen out of commission, according to Joy Amaro, the director of the Torres Shelter.
Amaro said a staff member was able to quickly use a fire extinguisher to put the fire out but now the kitchen is filled with chemicals from the fire extinguisher.
The Torres Shelter is now looking for an alternative to provide three meals a day to the 102 people they serve.
They are asking for donations of food, paper plates and money, which they hope to get a food truck to help serve the people staying in the shelter. You can donate here.
