BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - For birders, ‘Tis the season for some of the best viewing our region has to offer.
This week kicks off the 21st annual Snow Goose Festival of the Pacific Flyway.
Action News Now Morning Anchor Julia Yarbough spent some time taking in the scenery at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Llano Seco Unit, just outside Chico.
It is one of the participating locations for the festival, but visitors can take advantage of avian sights at any time.
The Snow Goose Festival showcases the millions of waterfowl and thousands of raptors migrating along the Pacific Flyway. This time of year you can find our feathered friends hanging out in various locations in the Sacramento Valley, with some of the best viewings along our region’s many rice fields.
The festival officers a series of outdoor excursions, viewing opportunities, workshops, and hikes.
The Snow Goose Festival of the Pacific Flyway runs from Wednesday, January 22nd through Sunday, January 26th.
