CHICO, Calif. - Thousands of dollars of walnut wood stolen from Wineland Walnut on River Road in Chico.
Co-owner of Wineland Walnut, Trevor Wineland, discovered on June 29 that 15 slabs of walnut wood were missing from the property.
"I never thought anything like this would happen to us," said Wineland.
But he believes they're not the only ones.
"So I started calling around the industry, ‘Hey are you guys safe are you missing anything?’ come to find out another guy in Chico had a log went missing off of his property. Then I called another company that found out 12 slabs were missing from him and his property," said Wineland.
He provided a photo of a red pickup truck that other business owners suspect was used to take wood slabs from them.
"I know I will never get that stuff back. Unless somebody out there knows that person that they saw these slabs at their yard. You see how much I have around here, what’s to say they don’t come back and do it again.”
Butte County Sheriff's Office says the crime is still under investigation.
