SHASTA COUNTY, Calif - The City of Redding is going purple this month for Elder Abuse.

The Redding Police Department has planted more than 3,000 purple flags outside of city hall to showcase the number of elder abuse cases they've investigated in 2018 alone.

Action News Now has learned most of those cases were financial abuse.

"Check their financial papers such as their bank account checking account credit card account see if any of those have been compromised," Boun said.

The department is also holding an elder abuse fair Saturday, June 15th at the Sundial Bridge at 5:30 p.m. so those interested in the topic can get resources and information.
