A Rancho Tehama man is being held on one-million dollars bail after allegedly assaulting a woman and her mother.

59-year-old Nicholas Marcellino was arrested last night at a home on the 16-thousand block of Elder Creek Circle in Rancho Tehama.

A 26 year-old woman told deputies Marcellino had choked her unconscious and also hit her mother in the face so hard it gave her a black eye.

The 26 year old victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Marcellino was booked into the Tehama County Jail.

He faces charges of battery with great bodily injury.

Due to the nature of the crime an emergency protection order was issued by an on-call judge and Marcellino's bail was raised from 100-thousand dollars to one-million.

Another disturbance will cross northern California through tomorrow. The biggest effect will be stronger wind in the valley tonight through Thursday. There are no watches or warnings for fire danger, but the wind won't help.
