REDDING, Calif. -The Taste of Redding has returned after COVID-19 canceled the event back in 2020. Now the event is back and ready more than ever.

This event allows people to get out of the house, try food from local restaurants, and hear some excellent tunes.

Paul Lehman is the President of West Rotary and says he couldn’t wait to bring this event back to the people of Redding.

“We love the community interaction. We love presenting this to the people so everybody can come out and have a great time. It sold out this year, so we know people were waiting it’s great to be back serving the community," Lehman said.

After a year of quarantine and stay-at-home orders, this event is a welcome return to normalcy for some.

“It’s weird being around so many people again after being so sheltered and not seeing anyone, but it’s nice and cool and lively," Redding local Briella Brown said.

The event couldn’t happen last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Action News Now spoke to some local vendors who were excited to show their specialty food items.

“This is a big event for the community for a lot of years, so we were disappointed last year, but today we are excited to be here. It looks like we have a great turnout with many people out and about, so great. It’s great exposure for the business," the owner of Market Street Blade & Barrel, Scott Odell said.

Lehman says the majority of the proceeds will go to community-based projects and scholarships for high school children.
