CHICO, CALIF. -   Sycamore Pool in Chico's One Mile Recreation Area will officially open for the summer swim season Saturday, June 13, 2020.

Coronavirus restrictions kept it from opening as usual on Memorial Day weekend.

City Officials say lifeguards will staff the pool Mondays through Wednesdays from Noon to 5 p.m., and Fridays through Sundays from Noon to 7 p.m. through mid-August.

After that lifeguards will only work weekends, through Labor Day.

Public Works crews clean the Bidwell Park pool in Big Chico Creek every other Thursday, so it is not staffed by lifeguards on Thursdays.

Visitors are asked to take responsibility for their own protection against COVID-19 by doing the following:

  •    Not using the pool area if you have a cough, fever, or other symptoms of illness.
  •    Bringing personal use water, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant
  •    Not sharing swim gear such as goggles, nose clips or snorkels
  •    Practicing physical distancing at all times by staying 6 feet from others, not gathering in groups on the pool deck, and avoiding     physical contact with others.

Stronger winds are prompting a Wind Advisory in the valley today, and driving elevated fire danger for your Tuesday. We'll also have the chance for showers and thunderstorms in the Sierra and foothills. A big warming trend is ahead in your extended forecast.
