YUBA CITY, Calif. - The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office made two arrests for the March 6 drive-by shooting at a Yuba City residence backyard that left two dead and three others injured from gunshot wounds, the sheriff's office said.
The shooting occurred on the 1400 Block of Countryside Drive and Littlejohn Drive. 26-year-old Alex Rangel Romero and 20-year-old Miguel Angel Hernandez-Castro, both from Yuba City, were found dead at the home.
Julio Nuno was arrested on firearm possession charges and for participation in a criminal street gang.
On April 2, the Department of Justice alerted the Sheriff’s Office of DNA profiles from the shooting evidence.
On April 6, Jorden McDaniel, 19, of Yuba City, Dominick Sanchez, 19, of Marysville and Julio Nuno, 21, of Yuba City were arrested on firearm possession charges and for participation in a criminal street gang.
After the Department of Justice checked further DNA samples, it linked both McDaniel and Sanchez to the shooting evidence. McDaniel and Sanchez were booked on additional charges of homicide.
A firearm was found on April 6 and is believed to be involved in the drive-by.
This investigation is still ongoing and there may be additional charges coming.
