OLIVEHURST, Calif. - Detectives are investigating the suspicious death of an Olivehurst man after his body was discovered by officials on Wednesday, the Yuba County Sheriff's Office said.

The body was discovered just before noon in the 4400 block of Fleming Way in Olivehurst when deputies arrived on the scene to conduct a welfare check.

A concerned neighbor called the police after months went by with no signs of her neighbor.

The neighbor reported that the man had cats and that she had not seen them or visitors come by to care for them.

Deputies responded to the call and brought Animal Care Services.

Upon arriving at the scene and getting no response, deputies entered the backyard to investigate and through a glass sliding door saw an unknown deceased man in advanced decomposition in a bedroom.

The identity and the cause of death of the deceased are unknown. The case is under active investigation and awaiting a pending autopsy.
