THERMALITO, Calif. – A woman was arrested on suspicion of arson Tuesday in Thermalito.
Around 3:24 a.m. July 7, Cal Fire responded to a vegetation fire in the area of the Campbell Hills, north of Thermalito.
When crews first arrived on the scene of the “Garden Fire,” a woman was spotted at the fire’s edge, according to Cal Fire law enforcement. While being questioned by the fire investigator, the woman declined to answer almost all questions about the fire and her actions.
The fire was determined to be two separate fires which burned together nearly 11 acres, and was human-caused, Cal Fire officials said.
27-year-old Manderisa Kristen Tate, was arrested on suspicion of arson to forest land, with most likely a second count to be added at a later time, according to Cal Fire law enforcement. Tate is being held at the Butte County Jail with a bail of $75,000.
