Suspected Package Thief Captured in Redding

A woman was arrested in Redding after homeowners caught her stealing a package off of their porch.

REDDING, Calif. - A woman was arrested in Redding after homeowners caught her stealing a package off of their porch.

On Dec. 31, 2018, at around 9:45 a.m. V/James Casner and his wife saw a woman steal a package from their front porch and followed her. 

The suspect took off in a Toyota 4 Runner from the neighborhood in the 11000 block of Ridgewood Road. 

Officers found the suspect driving southbound on Interstate 5 near S. Bonnyview Road. 

During a car stop, the officers arrested Cassandra Wilson, 36, of Shasta Lake City. 

They were able to locate the stolen package in Wilson's vehicle and an additional package belonging to a separate victim. 

Wilson was arrested for suspected theft of property. During a subsequent search, officers found a lock picking kit. 

She was booked into Shasta County Jail for petty theft, possession of burglary tools and driving on a suspended license.
