Suspected DUI driver admits to driving vehicle that hit a person in Chico

A man admitted to driving a vehicle that hit a person on Cohasset Rd. in Chico on Monday night.

CHICO, Calif. - A man was arrested for driving under the influence and hit-and-run in a collision in Chico that sent one person to the hospital, according to the Chico Police Department.

The Chico Police Department received a report at 11:34 p.m. about a hit-and-run on the 2800 block of Cohasset Rd.

When officers and medics arrived, they found a person laying on the shoulder of Cohasset Rd. just south of Lupin Ave.

The person was injured, taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Officer located 36-year-old Michael Alvarez of Chico who said he was the passenger of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian.

Alvarez said he did not know where the vehicle was or the driver who hit the person.

Officers checked the area and found a damaged vehicle that was registered to Alvarez on the 900 block of Lupin Ave.

Alvarez then admitted to being the driver of the suspect vehicle. He was arrested and taken to the Butte County Jail. His bail is set at $100,000.
