BURNEY, Calif. - A person was arrested as a suspect of multiple arson-caused fires in the Burney area, CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit said.

Since March, CAL FIRE has responded to arson-caused fires in the area of Johnson Park with the largest fire being about two acres.

24-year-old Cole Rainwater was found at an illegal fire on Highway 299 in Johnson Park on May 7 and was arrested.

He was booked into the Shasta County Jail on one count of arson.

Rainwater could be facing multiple charges of arson after investigators linked him to several other arson fires in the area.

He will also be charged with an enhancement on each arson count due to the current state of emergency.
