Suspect arrested for charging at people with a knife in supermarket parking lot

The Chico Police Department arrested a man they said was charging at people with a knife in the parking lot of Raley's.

CHICO, Calif. - The Chico Police Department arrested a man they said was charging at people with a knife in the parking lot of Raley's.

Authorities first received reports of the suspect on Tuesday night around 11:10 p.m. 

Witnesses said he was in the parking lot of the Raley's Supermarket located at 211 W. East Avenue, Chico. 

When officers arrived at the scene they found the suspect in a nearby parking lot. He was identified as Gerald Bailey, a 23-year-old Chico transient. 

He discarded the knife before officers arrived on scene, but they found the weapon in a nearby dumpster. 

Bailey was placed under arrest and booked into Butte County Jail for brandishing a weapon and an outstanding felony warrant for possessing a dagger.
