Police arrest man after deadly hotel shooting

Redding Police Department arrested Gregory Bradford after responding to a report of a shooting at the Motel 6 on Hilltop Dr.

REDDING, Calif. - On Dec. 21, around 12 a.m., Officers from the Redding Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim inside a room at the Motel 6 on Hilltop Dr.

Officials say when officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was provided medical aid and transported to the hospital by ambulance.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.

Redding Police said an investigation of the incident revealed the victim was in a motel room with two other males. All three subjects were friends and were staying at the motel together.

Police say one of the subjects, identified as Gregory Bradford, 30, of Hollister, Calif., was handling the loaded gun in a negligent manner when it went off. 

Evidence obtained during the investigation revealed Bradford discharged the firearm in a grossly negligent manner causing death. Bradford was arrested for the crime and booked at the Shasta County Jail.
