REDDING, Calif. – A confrontation on Saturday at Enterprise Park in Redding impacted a child’s birthday party and ended with an arrest for possession of a firearm.

Redding police dispatch received several 911 calls on Saturday concerning a woman at Enterprise Park swinging a machete. This was happening near a group that was celebrating a child’s birthday.

One of the reports to law enforcement said the woman swung the machete close to a bounce house filled with children.

Police said they also received reports that several parents at the birthday party possessed firearms and had CCW (concealed carry) permits. It was believed by the callers that the gun owners at the party intended to use their own firearms if the situation escalated.

When police arrived they said they found a group of parents who were verbally confronting 32-year-old Jamie Lynn Richardson who was standing next to a machete.

Officers said they determined that the woman’s “unusual behavior” was due to meth use.

When police arrested Richardson they said they also made another discovery, she was armed. The officers said they found a firearm in her pants – a loaded and concealed 380 semi-automatic pistol.

Richardson was booked for public intoxication and the illegal possession of a concealed firearm.
