Suspect Arrested in Oroville Shooting

The Butte County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a suspect in a shooting early Thursday morning.

OROVILLE, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a suspect in a shooting early Thursday morning.

At around 2 a.m. on Thursday, the Sheriff's Office received multiple reports of gunshots and yelling heard in the area of Sierra Avenue in Oroville. 

After arriving on the scene, deputies located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

Additional deputies responded to the scene and gathered information, ultimately leading them to suspect Brett Toschi, 24, of Oroville. 

Toschi was arrested at his home on 6th Street in Oroville for assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition. 

He was booked into Butte County Jail with bail set at $100,000. 

Detectives remained on scene collecting evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
