Mostly dry and warmer weather is on the way for your Tuesday. Mostly clear skies are over Northern California early this morning, but more clouds will fill into higher elevations later today. We are starting out dry across the entire region this morning, but the potential for some isolated showers, and even a possible thunderstorm will return to the Sierra late afternoon and early evening. Temperatures are starting out in the low to mid 50's in the valley this morning, and in the 30's to 40's in the mountains. Skies are expected to be sunny to mostly sunny through the day in the valley, while portions of the mountains will have clouds returning for the afternoon. Winds are picking up out of the North today. Sustained winds will be up to around 15mph, and gusts out of the North could reach 25mph this afternoon. High temperatures are projected to climb into the low 80's in the valley later today, and into the 60's to low 70's in most mountain areas this afternoon. The best chance for showers this afternoon and evening will be down towards the Tahoe area, but there is still a decent chance for an isolated shower or two popping up in areas of Lassen and Plumas Counties.

Temperatures will continue to climb over the next few days, but it will be a slow warming trend ahead. Low to mid 80's are expected in the valley on Wednesday and Thursday. Skies will be sunny in the valley, and mostly sunny in the mountains. There will be a very slight lingering chance for a shower popping up in the Northern Sierra on Wednesday afternoon, but that doesn't look very promising. Temperatures will continue to warm in the mid 80's for your Friday forecast in the valley. Mountain areas will range from the mid 60's to mid 70's later this week.

There will be a very modest drop in temperatures on the way for your weekend. Expect Saturday and Sunday to be 3 or 4 degrees below the high temperature from Friday. We will have a chance for light showers returning to the Northern Mountains this weekend, but most areas are projected to stay dry. Overall, the weekend looks like a nice one across Northern California.

Wednesday was a scorching day for parts of the valley as northerly airflow really warmed our temperatures. The breezes will continue Thursday, but their direction will shift and it will be slightly cooler.
