Sunday was a sunny, warm and beautiful day although it was much warmer in Redding--well over 70 degrees than it was in Chico--just in the mid 60's due to a few high clouds blocking the sun. On Monday we should have more clouds and somewhat cooler temperatures and that will be the start of some changes heading our way for the week ahead.
On Tuesday the high pressure ridge breaks down some more and clouds over the area may produce a light shower or two, but it won't be much.
A weak storm will try to bring us a few showers on Wednesday evening and this looks like a better chance than Tuesday's system. Then, finally on Friday a significant storm breaks through. At this point Friday's storm looks like it could bring a half inch to an inch of rain to the valley and decent snow to the mountains. The storm looks cold too with snow levels dropping to the upper foothills at the end of the storm snow levels could be down to 3000 feet. A winter storm warning may be posted as we get closer to Friday from this system.
Beyond Friday there may be a steady wet pattern developing so look for more chances of rain ahead.
