Sunday January 13th Weathercast

A rainy week coming up!

Posted: Jan 13, 2019 5:35 PM

A beautiful Sunday brought sunny skies and warm temperatures with highs in the 60's in several valley locations. But it will be the last sunny warm day for about a week!

A series of storms is forecast to move into Northern California this week with the first one bringing light rain showers on Monday night.

The second, stronger storm arrives on Tuesday. This system could bring up to an inch or more of rain to the valley and up to a foot of snow in the mountains by late Tuesday.

The third storm arriving Wednesday and lasting into Thursday is the strongest system of the week. That one will bring periods of heavy rain and gusty winds in the valley and heavy mountain snow as well. Looks for 2-3 inches of rain in the valley from this system and several feet of mountain snow.

Friday will have some lingering showers especially over the mountains. Finally, another storm arrives over the weekend but that one right now looks weaker and will only bring light amounts of rain and snow.

A modest drop in temperatures, increasing clouds and the threat of thunderstorms are all ahead in your Friday forecast. The threat of thunderstorms over very dry fuels is resulting in high fire danger in portions of northern California Friday and Saturday. Some welcome changes are ahead in your extended forecast.
