Shop destroyed Friday in Capay fire

UPDATE: A business next to the Capay Deli was destroyed by fire on Cutting Avenue Friday morning.

Update 6:05 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2019 - Capay Volunteer Fire Chief Ian Turnbull told Action News Now that the shop was destroyed by the fire. Crews spent nearly an hour trying to knock down the flames. Chief Turnbull said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

CAPAY Calif.-  Fire crews from Glenn County,  Orland and Capay were on the scene of a structure fire in the town of Capay this morning.

Tod George, who lives near the scene, says the fire started in a shop next to the Capay Deli around 4:45 a.m. on Friday. The fire was first reported when the inhabitants of the shop - a man and a woman - went to George's house and asked him to call 9-1-1.

Capay Fire Department and Orland Fire department were on the scene to contain the fire. 

Action News Now is working to gather further information on any injuries, potential damage, or any other information at this time.
