Chester, Stover Mountain area is under evacuation order

The Plumas County Sheriff's Office issued an evacuation order for the Stover Mountain area.

PLUMAS COUNTY, Calif. - A mandatory evacuation has been issued for the area of Stover Mountain and Chester due to the Dixie Fire, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office said.

All of Chester is under the evacuation order as well as all of Peninsula and Hamilton Branch.

The order includes the intersection of Old Red Bluff Highway and Warney Valley Rd. and east to Lake Chance Campground.
It goes south on Highway 36 to the Causeway.

Then, southwest the intersection of Highway 89 and Highway 36 and north back to the intersection of Old Red Bluff Highway and Warner Valley Rd., the Sheriff’s Office said.

The order includes the intersection of Highway 89 and Highway 36, west on Highway 36 to the Pacific Crest Trail.

North to Willows Springs Campground, northeast to Old Red Bluff Highway to Warner Valley Rd. and back to the intersections of Highway 89 and Highway 36 is all under this order.

People should evacuate from the area immediately.

There is a shelter at the Lassen Community College and people should leave in the direction of Susanville.
