Grab that jacket and get your umbrella handy! Wet and cooler weather are on the way to Northern California over the next several days. Skies are mostly clear for the start of your Friday, but clouds will be increasing this afternoon. The potential for showers will return to the far Northern zones of our region as early as tonight, and will become more likely as we head through the weekend. The best chance for showers will be in the mountains, but there will also be a slight chance for some light precipitation in the valley late tonight through early Saturday. High elevation show will also be possible this weekend. Temperatures have dipped into the 60's in the valley this morning, and into the 40's to 50's in the mountains overnight. Winds are out of the South to around 20mph early today and will mostly top out at around 15mph out of the South this afternoon. Humidity is expected to stay higher today and that is very positive news for fire danger. Fire danger will dip back into the moderate range today and could bottom out in the low range this weekend. High temperatures will be much cooler than any other day this week. Valley areas are projected to top out in the high 70's to low 80's later today and mountain areas will end up in the 60's to 70's this afternoon.
Much cooler temperatures and wet weather are on tap for your weekend. The majority of the wet weather is expected to stay in the mountains this weekend, but some showers will be possible in the valley. Snow will be possible down to as low as 5500' over the next several days, but will more than likely stay above 6000' this weekend. High temperatures are projected to end up in the high 60's to mid 70's in the valley on Saturday and Sunday. Low temperatures in the valley will bottom out in the 40's to mid 50's this weekend. The cool trend will persist into early next week, and showers will be possible through Monday night. We are expecting to see a very modest rise in temperatures for the middle of next week, but valley high temperatures will still be well below average for this time of year. The coolest day of your extended forecast is projected to be on Monday, when valley high temperatures top out in the high 60's. Temperatures will then warm back into the high 70's to low 80's on Wednesday. Another cooling trend now looks likely towards the end of next week. It's starting to look a lot more like Fall across Northern California in your extended forecast!
