Get out and enjoy this beautiful weather tonight! If you do head out and plan to stay out late, probably bring an extra later to throw on for when the sun sets as temperatures will be cooling off into the low to mid 60s for the valley by midnight and low to mid 40s by tomorrow morning.

Sunday morning will be a period of transition. A weather system will be moving into Northern California, bringing some breezy conditions for the high desert, showers for the valley, and an impactful snowfall in the higher elevations. The cold front associated with this system is expected to move through the valley by the middle of the afternoon bringing with it showers and mountain snow. Total amounts of rain are expected to be around 0.20in of rain for the valley, with slightly higher amounts in areas in the foothills. Mostly Sunday night, areas over 6000ft are expected to receive between 3-6inches of snow with higher amounts around taller peaks such as Lassen Peak. Areas around 5500ft could see some snowfall, but light accumulations are expected. Due to this being the first impactful snowfall of the year, a winter weather advisory will go into effect at 5pm Sunday for elevations 5500ft and above. Another component to the system will be the wind. A wind advisory has been issued for the high desert with wind sustained between 20-30mph and gusts at 50mph with some higher gusts possible.

This will be a quick moving system, but it will set up a cooler pattern on Monday with temperatures around 60 in the valley, though warming up to the upper 60s/low 70s for the rest of the week and a chance of showers Wednesday through Saturday. This part of the forecast is still uncertain, so be sure to keep an eye on the forecast going forward.

The mild weather will come to an end after this weekend. But for now, we have another night of fog possible in the valley.
