The heat is on across Northern California for the end of your work week. Skies are clear and temperatures are very warm for the start of your Friday. Valley areas have only dipped into the high 60's to low 70's overnight, and mountain areas are starting out in the high 40's to mid 50's this morning. Winds are expected to be similar to the last few days. We'll have light winds out of the Northeast in the morning and then South winds to around 10mph this afternoon. Humidity is expected to drop into the 15 to 30 percent range this afternoon, which is much lower than we've seen so far this week. High temperatures are projected to top out in the 98 to 103 degree range in the valley today and in the high 80's to low 90's in the mountains this afternoon. Lower humidity and hotter temperatures will result in elevated fire danger this afternoon. The heat will also be a major concern over the next few days. Heat related illness like heat exhaustion and heat stroke will be possible. Make sure to keep a close eye on loved ones and that you're staying hydrated.
The trend of hot and dry weather will persist through your weekend. Skies will be sunny and temperatures will stay above average on Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures are expected to stay in the high 90's to low triple digits in the valley on Saturday but will then dip into the mid to high 90's on Sunday. We'll be staying dry through your extended forecast. Temperatures will dip back to around average for this time of year for the start to middle of next week, but most areas will still be a degree or two above the norm for this time of year. Mid to high 90's are ahead for the valley next week, and mountain areas will top out in the high 80's to low 90's.
