Yesterday was cooler due to smoke cover and we will see the same thing today with highs in the upper-80s. Smoke continues to inundate our region and is causing unhealthy air quality in the valley and hazardous air quality in the Sierra. Winds will be on the light side today which wil help with further containment on the Bear Fire. No one will be smoke-free today in our region. Please try to stay indoors if possible.
Hopefully some smoke clears out by Saturday allowing us some sun and healthier air. That would also mean a return to 90 degree tempratures. But the reality looks like slightly warmer and still smoky.
The will be a trough of low pressure dipping down in the Pacific towards our region Sunday and next week. This will lead to cooler weather and more moisture, possibly leading to a quick isolated shower in the mountains. If that happened, it would most likely be Tuesday or Wednesday. There are some computer models bringing rain into the valley. The confidence is still low at this time so I will not include rain chances in my forecast. There's no reason to get people's hope up. I try not to forecast doomsday or wishful unless I really think its going to happen. The system however will also increase winds over our area, thereby increasing fire danger, starting on Sunday.
