The heat is on today and through your extended forecast. Two sepparate areas of high pressure are sandwhiching Northern California and will keep our region dry and hot through your extended forecast. The high pressure off to our East will be the bigger impact as it builds North and West over the next few days. Skies are clear and temperatures are warm for the start of your Friday. Valley and foothill areas are starting out in the 60's to 70's this morning, and mountain areas are in the 40's to 50's. Winds are out of the Northeast to around 10mph early today, but are expected to shift to become out of the South to around 10mph this afternoon. Humidity has not recovered well, and is starting out below 55 percent in the valley early today. We'll more than likely see humidity values in the 10 to 22 percent range this afternoon. The dry and hot conditions will keep fire danger in the moderate range today. High temperatures are expected to top out in the 98 to 105 degree range in the valley, in the low to mid 90's in the foothills, and in the 80's to mid 90's in the mountains this afternoon.
Skies will stay sunny and temperatures will get even hotter over through the middle of next week. We'll be dry with breezy South winds on Saturday and Sunday. Valley areas will dip into the 60's to low 70's in the overnight hours, and will climb into the 100 to 105 degree range both days this weekend. Foothill areas will start out in the 60's to low 70's and end up in the mid to high 90's this weekend, while mountian areas will start out in the 40's to low 50's and end up in the low to mid 90's.
We'll be staying sunny and getting even hotter early to mid week next week. Valley areas are currently projected to end up in the 101 to 106 degree range on Monday and will climb into the 103 to 108 degree range on Tuesday and Wednesday. Foothill areas will continue to top out in the mid to high 90's through Wednesday and mountain areas will mostly top out in the low to mid 90's. Low pressure tracking towards the Pacific Northwest will bring a drop in temperatures into your Thursday forecast, but we're still projected to end up in the triple digits on Thursday afternoon in the valley. Mountain and foothill areas will mostly end up in the high 80's to low 90's on Thursday. Be prepared for moderate heat risk with the hot temperatures on the way. Drink plenty of water, dress for the heat, and avoid outdoor activities in the afternoon if you are able to. We'll also have elevated fire danger due to the hot and very dry conditions. Breezy winds will also be a concern over the next few days.
