Winds were strong over the last 24-48 hours. Winds will die down tonight with more heat mid-week.
Jarbo Gap recorded a wind gust of 72 mph at 5am this morning. A RED FLAG WARNING will remain in place until Monday night due to strong winds. When winds relax, rapid spreading fires will be less of a concern and we should see some evacuations getting lifted and fires reaching better containment.
The heat will be strong by mid-week. A strong ridge of high pressure will park over us through the week. Daily highs in the upper-90s to 105 will be possible in the valley Tuesday-Thursday with the hottest day being Wednesday. It will also remain dry and sunny but winds will be light.
Once we get to the weekend, the ridge of high pressure will flatten out. This will lead to a cooling trend from Friday to Monday, where we will cool a few degrees each day. We'll see highs back in the mid-to-low 90s over the weekend and may even see highs in the upper-80s by Monday for some in the valley.
