Storm Tracker Forecast: Extended heat wave on tap

Triple-digit heat will be in the whole 7-day forecast with temperatures between 104 and 110 next week.

Posted: Jun 19, 2020 5:18 AM

Today is going to be sunny & hot. The fire danger is lower, with no more red flag warning, but the heat is up. We reach 99-102 today in the Valley.

The flat ridge of high pressure keeps the heat pretty steady through the weekend with highs about 100-103. The first day of summer is on Saturday and it will definitely feel like it. Sunday is Father's Day! If you have any plans for dad, try to keep them indoors, if you can.

Once we reach next week, the ridge of high pressure builds and the heat shoots up. Highs in the Valley will range from 104 to 110, with the hottest days being Monday and Thursday. Next week will be high heat risk and you will need to take precautions if you are planning to be outside for a prolonged period of time.

After a windy Saturday and fairly breezy Sunday, the wind we've had is weakening as the month of February comes to a close. We can expect a mostly clear first morning of March, followed by more clouds and mild air by the afternoon.
