Posted: Apr 30, 2020 6:25 PM

We had sunny to mostly sunny skies, warm temperatures, and moderate West to Southwest winds over Northern California today. Temperatures in the valley mostly topped out in the low to mid 80's, while foothill and mountain areas ended up in the 60's to low 70's. Most areas ended up slightly cooler than Wednesday, which was expected. Winds have been out of the Southwest to around 15mph this afteroon, and will be out of the South to around 15mph tonight.

Some thin clouds are expected to brush across the mid valley early in the day, and then valley areas will be sunny to mostly sunny for your afternoon. We'll also be sunny to mostly sunny in the Sierra and foothills on Friday. Mountain areas of Trinity, Siskiyou, and Shasta Counties will have partly cloudy skies and a slight chance for some scattered showers late in the day on Friday. Valley areas can expect temperatures to start out in the low to mid 50's on Friday morning and high temperatures in the low 80's on Friday afternoon. Foothill areas will have low temperatures in the high 40's to mid 50's and high temperatures in the low to mid 70's. Mountain areas can expect low temperatures in the 30's to 40's and high temperatures in the 60's to 70's again on Friday afternoon. Winds will be out of the South to around 10mph.

Low pressure centered in the Gulf of Alaska will be bringing cooler temperatures, partly to mostly cloudy skies, and the chance for showers into your weekend forecast. The best chance for showers will be in higher elevations closest to the Oregon border, but there will also be a decent chance for light showers in the North Valley. There will also be a slight chance for some thunderstorm activity on Saturday afternoon and evening in areas from Tehama County to the North. Gusty South winds can be expected on Saturday afternoon, with valley areas seeing gusts up to around 25mph. The threat of showers will continue into Sunday, but the latest models are showing mostly dry weather over our region for the latter part of your weekend. Valley areas can expect low temperatures in the low to mid 50's and high temperatures in the mid 70's this weekend. Mountain and foothill areas can expect high temperatures in the 60's on Saturday and Sunday.

High pressure will be building back into the West Coast early to mid week next week. Dry weather, sunny to mostly sunny skies, and a significant warming trend are on the way for next week. Valley areas will be back in the mid 80's by Wednesday and we could be seeing temperatures in the 90's for the latter part of next week.
