Northern California today has been similar to yesterday with widespread smoke, plenty of heat, and isolated mountain showers and thunderstorms. We'll have a quieter weather day tomorrow, but we'll have more smoke in the air. A ridge of high pressure overhead kept our weather fairly quiet, but there was enough monsoonal moisture to create isolated showers and thunderstorm over the mountains. The storms will disappear after sunset, and we'll have a quiet, hazy Friday night. Lows Saturday morning will range from the 50s in the mountains to the 60s and 70s in the valley and foothills. Saturday afternoon will be smoky and hot, and the smoke may be worse than the last couple days. Highs will stay in the 90s and 100s.

Heat Advisories have been issued for the valley and foothills from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening. The smoke may limit how many of us actually get hot enough for the Advisory. Whether it's not as smoky and hotter or smokier and not as hot, be sure to stay healthy and safe this weekend. A trough of low pressure will push over the Pacific Northwest during the first half of next week. It will cool us to more seasonable levels and bring slightly stronger breezes. Next Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny, hazy and hot. Valley lows will be well above average, cooling from the lower and mid 70s to the mid and upper 60s. Valley highs will also cool from well into the 100s this weekend to 90s and lower 100s next week.

Areas of fog are possible to start your Tuesday, but we'll end up sunny, warmer, and have gusty north winds Tuesday afternoon. Winds will diminish through the day on Wednesday, and we'll stay very warm. Dry and warm conditions will persist through this weekend, but wet and cooler weather is projected to return next week.
