We began the first full week of August on a slightly cooler note with a lot of high clouds, haze and smoke for most parts of northern California. The high clouds will remain through much of Tuesday, with other changes coming soon. Northern California continues to be situated between a trough of low pressure to the west and a ridge of high pressure to the east. High clouds will stream overhead tonight and much of Tuesday, keeping us a little warmer in the morning, but not doing much to cool us in the afternoon. Lows will range from the 40s and 50s in the mountains to the 60s and 70s in the foothills and valley. Highs Tuesday will range from the 80s and lower 90s in the mountains and foothills to the lower 100s in the valley.

The trough off the West Coast will start pushing onshore Wednesday and Thursday. It won't bring any chance of rain to our area, but it will cause the wind to be a little stronger than it's been for a while both days. Friday and Saturday will be calmer and hotter, warming back to seasonable levels. Another trough of low pressure will dive toward northern California Sunday and next Monday. Like the previous trough of low pressure, it will bring slightly cooler temperatures and stronger wind to our area, but no good chance of rain. Valley lows will stay in the seasonable range from the 60s to the lower 70s. Valley highs will begin in the lower and mid 100s, cooling to the 90s and lower 100s this weekend and early next week.
