The smoke has pushed back into the valley and the air quality has worsened in northern California. A trough will arrive Thursday, bringing windier weather, a few light showers, isolated thunderstorms and higher fire danger. A Fire Weather Watch will be in effect Thursday afternoon through Friday night, and our Heat Advisory lasts through tonight. The smoke will continue to push into the valley and foothills tonight and early Thursday in advance of the trough Thursday. Lows tonight will range from the 40s and 50s in the mountains to the 60s and 70s in the valley and foothills. Thursday will be partly cloudy, gusty and hot with a chance of showers and thunderstorms late Thursday night. Highs will range from the upper 80s to the lower 100s.

As the trough passes over northern California late Thursday and early Friday and it will bring with it a chance of showers and thunderstorms through the late morning into our far eastern counties. Hopefully dry lightning strikes will not occur, but they are possible. The gusty wind we'll get should improve the air quality of the valley and foothills again, but we'll still have areas of haze. Friday will be noticeably cooler than Thursday, with highs a few degrees below average. This weekend through the first half of next week we should have quieter and more seasonable weather with more sunshine. Valley lows will from the 70s into the 60s, while valley highs will fall from near 100 Thursday to near 90 Friday, with mainly 90s through midweek.
