The weather over northern California has finally calmed substantially, and although it would be fantastic to have valley rain and mountain snow, we have some exceptional weather ahead for the end of October and beginning of November. We can expect a mostly clear to clear sky tonight with light wind and seasonably chilly to cool lows. Overnight lows will range from the teens, 20s and 30s in the mountains to the 40s and 50s in the valley and foothills. Thursday will be a quiet weather day with plenty of sunshine and above average temperatures. Daytime highs will range from the upper 60s and 70s in the mountains to the 70s and lower 80s in the valley and foothills.

A weak disturbance will move over the Pacific Northwest on Friday and early Saturday and that will bring a minor cooling to our weather with a few high clouds and slightly stronger breezes. A strong ridge will then rebuild over California and most of the West Coast for this coming weekend, and that will provide more warmth and quiet weather on Halloween and our return to standard time on Sunday. The ridge will weaken a bit early next week as another Pacific trough approaches the coast, but all we're expecting from that is a few more clouds and another minor cooling trend. Highs will remain above average with 70s and 80s in the valley and 60s in the mountains.

Grab your jacket and and give yourself extra time to get where you're going Friday morning. We have brisk temperatures and areas of dense fog across northern California early today. Sunny skies and warm temperatures are ahead for the rest of your Friday and this weekend. Cooling down with the chance for showers early next week.
