ANDERSON, Calif. – Two men were arrested Sunday after a stolen car investigation led to a crash and an assault with a deadly weapon on an Anderson Police officer, according to police.
An Anderson Police Department Officer located a stolen vehicle from Santa Cruz in the parking lot of a Panda Express Sunday evening.
After waiting in the area, the officer spotted 25-year-old Tre Sutherland, of Arlington, Washington, approach and begin rearranging items inside the vehicle.
Additional officers responded to the incident and surrounded Sutherland and the vehicle.
After ignoring verbal commands, Sutherland ran to the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Officers said they approached Sutherland when he accelerated in reverse, almost striking an officer who was approaching from behind.
Sutherland backed into a light pole in the parking lot and officers said they managed to pull him from the vehicle and place him under arrest.
Some witnesses told officers about an additional male, 25-year-old Ezekial Faulks, of Everett, Colorado, who was located inside the restaurant. Faulks proceeded to be detained and admitted being with Sutherland, according to police.
After searching the vehicle and both Sutherland and Faulks, officers obtained three loaded magazines, a box of ammunition, a stun gun, several grams of heroin, drug paraphernalia, burglary tools, and several illegal incendiary devices.
Sutherland and Faulks were placed under arrest. No officers sustained any injuries from the incident.
