2 arrested in stolen vehicle chase that ended in Durham

Chico police chased down a stolen car Wednesday morning and arrested two people.

DURHAM, Calif. - Chico police chased down a stolen vehicle Wednesday morning, according to the Chico Police Department. 

Dispatch told Action News Now the car chase started on Park Ave. at 4:55 a.m.

Chico police say the suspected driver is 42-year-old Rosa Valdez and she is now under police custody.

Police first encountered Valdez on Nov. 10. Officer conducted a traffic stop, and Valdez had a felony warrant for her arrest.

As officers were about arrest Valdez, she fled in her vehicle.

Officers pursued her for about a mile until calling off the chase. 

Five days later, on Nov. 15, a person called police for a stolen Ford Escort and named Valdez as the suspect.

On Wednesday, a Chico police officer spotted the Ford Escort driving through Chico.

Police attempted to stop the car on Park Ave. but failed to.

They pursued the car to a dead-end road in Durham; where the driver surrendered. 

Police arrested Valdez and her passenger, Vincent Kelly.

They arrested Valdez on a felony warrant, possession of a stolen vehicle and two violation of reckless evading.

Kelly was arrested for possession of meth and heroin.
