REDDING, Calif. - An AK-47 rifle with a loaded 30 round magazine was found by Redding Police officers during a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon, July 11, 2020, at approximately 2: 30 in the afternoon. The location was on Cedars Road.
Police said the AK-47 had been stolen. They also recovered a .45 caliber pistol with a removed serial number, and six .45 caliber pistol magazines, three of which were loaded.
Officers said they observed a green sedan with fictitious registration tabs on Cedars Road. They stopped the vehicle for traffic enforcement, pulling over driver Christopher Collins of Redding. Collins is 34 years old.
Officers said that Collins consented to their search of the sedan.
Collins was booked for possession of stolen property, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, possession of a high capacity magazine, altered registration tabs, and drug paraphernalia.
