Staffing for upcoming fire season in Shasta County

31 students will be graduating from the Shasta College Fire Academy.

Redding Fire Chief Cullen Kreider told Action News Now that their training is proceeding despite coronavirus concerns.

Chief Kreider said the Shasta College Fire Academy is back in session and graduation will occur on May 16, although there may not be an actual physical ceremony for graduates. 

Kreider said 31 students are almost ready to graduate. He said, "These future candidates are essential."
