Oroville Calif.—A group of neighbors in Oroville say, transients and homeless people have been illegally hanging out in a house on High Street after a person who used to live there passed away.

Action News Now reporter AJ Abell spoke with the neighbors.

He spoke with four different neighbors living around the house, but none of them wanted to be on camera.

They told AJ that the man who lived in the home passes away several months ago.

The neighbors said that he usually kept to himself, but after he passed they started seeing people inside the home.

The neighbors claim that it usually happens at night, and when the weather is bad.

One of the neighbors said that it looks like a candle is burning in the house, which is more concerning because it could be a fire hazard if left unattended.

The neighbors claimed that when the squatters come in they often leave the gate open.

Someone apparently broke a window on the side of the house, and they use a milk crate as stepping stool to get inside.

One neighbor told Action News Now that there are a lot of homeless in the area as well as a lot of drug activity.

A different neighbor said that their car and garage have been broken into, and someone has even stole their outdoor light bulbs.

The neighbors have called the police, but they usually respond in the daytime when the people aren’t there.

It wasn't as hot for northern California today, but temperatures still reached seasonable summer levels and more thunderstorms sprung over our eastern counties. After one more seasonable day, hotter weather will return to our area.
