REDDING, Calif.- A new health food store will open in one week at Redding's Mt. Shasta Mall.
Sprouts Farmers Market is located at 1401 Hilltop Dr., replacing the Sears that used to be there.
City officials say they're looking forward to businesses like Sprouts pumping a lot of money to the city. Projected sales tax for this year could be more than twenty-five and half million dollars with new businesses and major development works coming to Redding.
Action News Now spoke to man who says he thinks mega stores like sprouts will beneift the city because it will create more jobs.
"Well hopefully it'll mean more jobs and get some of the people off the streets that are homeless," says David Gerfen, who lives in Redding. "That's one of our biggest problems in Redding. I'd like to see more jobs."
According to a California jobs report, unemployment rate in Shasta County was 4.2% in December of 2019, up 3% from Novemeber in 2019.
Sprouts is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona and doors open next Wednesday at 7.
