What steps should we take for safety?

Action News Now reporter Jafet Serrato breaks down seven preventative steps from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

One of the simplest steps to not get the virus is to wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds.

The CDC says another way to not get sick from the coronavirus, avoid close contact with people who are sick.

If you are sick - stay home!

Also clean and disinfect items you frequently touch - maybe use a spray or wipe.

WHAT TO USE: Here's a list of disinfectants you can use against coronavirus

If you can - don't touch your eyes, nose and mouth.

Whenever you have an urge to cough or sneeze make sure to use a tissue and throw it away after.

The CDC says facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of the novel coronavirus.

The CDC says some of the symptoms associated with novel coronavirus are fever, cough or shortness of breath.
