BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – The Sierra Oro Farm Trail is still hosting its passport weekend event, where farms and wineries share their products with the community. But, with coronavirus restrictions, it’s going to look a little different this year.
Oro farm trail partnered with Chico State to include parents and alumni as well as the rest of the community. Interactive virtual tasting videos are being created for the event. A partnership with Chico State will allow the videos to be watched on the University's GoToMeeting platform. The event will coincide with the University's "Virtual Parent & Alumni Weekend Celebration."
"Instead of coming and touring our farms, we are sending the farms home to you in the form of a tasting box, and there are a few different options on what you can order," shared Sierra Oro Farm Trail Event Organizer, Nicole Johansson. "There is a food only box. This is a food and beverage box that includes some beer and wine. You can also order an assortment of our local wine to have shipped to you as well and all of it benefits these businesses that have been closed all year. The wineries, the tasting rooms have been closed and we didn't want our farms to miss out on what usually is the kickoff to their holiday season."
