Shots fired near Placer County School forces shutdown

Shots fired at a home in Placer County Wednesday caused a nearby school to go on lockdown.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. - Shots fired at a home in Placer County Wednesday caused a nearby school to go on lockdown.

Wheatland police arrested Roy Williams at a home next to Sheridan Elementary School. 

Authorities say he was inside the home on H Street in Sheridan, sitting on his couch, when he fired four shots and the front door, wall and ceiling. 

Williams is now behind bars for felony negligent discharge of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.
