SHINGLETOWN, Calif. – A homicide from Saturday is leaving community members shocked and disappointed.
“When these things happen that's not necessarily how we want our community portrayed,” said Ed Garcia, a longtime resident of Shingletown. “When things like this happen it’s a real disappointment because that's not what Shingletown is about.”
People in Shingletown tell Action News Now that their community is a quiet and close-knit area.
“We don't have those kinds of incidents at all,” said Holly Zydycrn of Shingletown. “We're otherwise a pretty tight-knit community.”

Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who gunned down two people in Shingletown. Deputies say Daun Sanders gunned down Jon Depoorter and Michael Stanfill near Gail Lane and took off. Neighbors are now on edge.
“It's very scary, especially since the suspect is still out and about,” said Zydycrn.
“I think we should be more cautious,” shared Linda Kruger, another longtime resident of Shingletown.
Deputies did a sweep of the property but could not locate Sanders. The Shasta County Sheriff's Office believes Sanders took off in a dark-colored pickup truck.
Deputies say Sanders is considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information on Sanders’s location is asked to contact the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.
