UPDATE: 10 a.m., Sunday, June 28, 2020 - Tehama County Sheriff's Deputies announced Sunday that the shooter is one of the two people that died in the Walmart Distribution Center shooting.

Officials say Lane engaged a Red Bluff Police Officer in an exchange of gunfire where numerous shots were exchanged.

Moments later, officials said a second Red Bluff Police Officer arrived on scene and engaged Lane who was still shooting at the first officer on the scene.

Officials say that at 3:38 p.m., Lane who had been shot by the Red Buff PD was neutralized. Lane was medically treated, taken to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say that while Lane was being taken to the hospital, several agencies worked on clearing the scene and looking for more victims which no more were found.

Officials say that upon further investigation it was later learned that Lane had been witnessed driving through and around the Walmart Distribution Center parking lot at least four times prior to crashing his vehicle into the lobby area of the building.

Police said the vehicle caught on fire, as Lane exited the vehicle with a semi-automatic weapon and began shooting randomly into the building and through the parking lot area where he was met by Red Bluff PD. The fire was quickly suppressed.

Officials say that during this incident a total of six individuals were transported to local area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

Officials say that as TCSO deputies arrived on the scene, Martin Haro-Lozano was found injured. Due to the extent of his injuries, deputies placed Haro-Lozano into their vehicle and transported him to the nearest hospital where he died from his injuries.

Officials say this part of the investigation is in its preliminary stages and nothing further can be provided at this time. Haro-Lozano was an employee of Walmart.

Through investigation, officers said they learned Lane had worked at the Red Bluff area Walmart Distribution Center in February 2019 but had been released from employment due to failing to show for his shift.

Police say it was determined that this incident is not related to the homicide investigation currently being investigated by the Shasta County Sheriffs Office in Shingletown,

Officials say this investigation is still in the early stages and the TCSO is being assisted by several agencies.
